Slow Down

Slow down you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be before your time...Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It's alright, you can afford to lose a day or two
~ Lyrics: Vienna by Billy Joel

Hello Everyone! Today message is short...Live in the Moment. On my work today, from the time I left the house until I stepped into the office, there were multiple hurdles for me to slow down. I slowly began to become impatient with all the "inconveniences" that was occurring. After finally arriving at my desk, practicing a few asanas and quieting my mind to let go of what happened earlier, I could tell my mood was changing to a more positive one.

I needed to remember to live in the moment. That things happen for a reason. To be present and wait to get where I need to be instead of rushing. Anything worth having in life is worth the wait. We will be able to have what we're searching for longer than a moment if we just slow down. This is something I;m still working on, but I will continue to stay in the moment, instead of rushing to get to the future, because at its correct time we'll get there.

Learning Self-Care

Hey Everyone! While starting my next degree, I began practicing yoga postures/asanas to help minimize stress from my studies. I've been practicing since September 2014 and since then I definitely have progressed physically, but I'm still a work in practice mentally. School doesn't necessarily causes stress, unless I procrastinate until the last minute to complete a major assignment. It's the day to day things that causes stress.

There has been a lot of personal changes during the past few months, which are definitely challenging. Since I participate in Instagram yoga mini and month long challenges, physically it has helped minimize my stress, but I'm still a work in progress mentally and spiritually. Being a social worker doesn't help as well. I'm always able to give sound advice to others, but for whatever reason unable to follow my own words of advice.

This month I decided I need to focus more on self-care and practice what I preach. To be mindful that I can't change everything in my life in an instant. That things happen for a reason to be a life learning lesson so I can grow overall. So with my mindfulness practice, I have learned that I need to just be quiet sometimes. Whether it's not arguing with someone over something that is minor or practicing mindfulness meditation.

During meditation, a person should dedicate an allotted amount of time, whether it's five minutes in the beginning and work up to 60 minutes of quietness to still the mind. Live in the moment and stop stressing about the past and present. If being still and quiet is too much, try repeating a mantra to help you focus on yourself, so at the end of the day, YOU are Creating your own HAPPINESS.

We can't blame others how we live our life. We can accept what's going on now and learn how to change to have a more positive outlook on life. As I always say, speak it into existence and from there create how you want to live your life. You are responsible for your happiness. No one can give that to you, but yourself.

Take care and persevere!

Love and Light,

Until Next Time...

The Academy Awards 2016: From the Red Carpet

It's that time of the year again! There's a lot of actors boycotting the ceremony due to the lack of the diversity for nominees in the past two years, but as for the red carpet, lets focus on the glam from the ladies and gents.

One of the first dresses that caught my eye is Olivia Wilde, white plunging neckline from Valentino.

The second look was Priyanka Chopra white strapless mermaid gown.

Kerry Washington on the red carpet was wearing a black and white gladiator-style Versace gown.

Paying homage to the award ceremony Mr. Oscar is Margot Robbie in a gold long sleeve number.

Brie Larson in Gucci, one of my favorite colors, with flowing ruffles to bring the eye to the flowing gown.

In a halter sparkled number, Robin Roberts, showing off her toned arms.

Lady Gaga wearing one of five custom made ensembles from her stylist Brandon Maxwell.

And of gents attires...

Eddie Redmayne in his velvet jacket looking stunning.

Chris Rock getting prepared for the opening for the Oscars.

And Kevin Hart shining and being funny as usual!

Hope everyone enjoyed the Red Carpet as I did.

Until Next Time...

Words of Wisdom

"I'm in my Prime. There's no goal too far, no mountain too high." Wilma Rudolph

Yes, I am in my Prime. I have completed two degrees before age 30 and starting to build my career and starting on the next chapter of my life. I'm not sure where this journey will take me, but I'm ready. Life is hard at times, but we are made to get through even the most adverse situations that may arise. I am ready, and yes there is no mountain too high that will stop me from reaching my goals!

Item of the Week

After the first snow fall this season, I figured it's time to start searching for some new shoes. As I reported on my wish list I would really like to get a pair of Sorel boots. I have been eyeing a pair since I saw them in a Chicago store last winter and have heard they are quite warm and comfy. In the Midwest temperatures can get drop quite low and who wants frozen toes!

The pair that I would like to get are the Joan of Arctic boots which cost $150 on Sorel website. The boots waterproof leather and suede with a removable felt liner that is topped with faux fur. They come in seven different colors and would be perfect for walking or playing in the snow.

Let's not forget about the men in our lives. Sorel also have a pair of boots that is as equally stylish. The Kitchener Frost boot which is priced at $195 is of waterproof leather and comes in two colors (Java and Boulder) which are similar to reddish brown and dark brown.

Both boots can be found online at other shoe websites such as www.zappos.com and www.6pm.com and find savings from $35 to $100!

Website of the Week

As a person who has worn eyeglasses all her life I have made sure to search for the most stylish glasses since they're accessories that I have to use on a daily basis. I have been a faithful customer to SEE (Selective Eyewear Elements) for their fun and stylish eyewear at a reasonable price, but SEE isn't the website I'm promoting this week. I also love sunglasses and while searching for items for a wish list I stumbled upon TOMS One for One: Sight.

Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS, new mission is to have One for One for the many needs around the world. The next chapter outside of giving shoes for every shoe purchase is Sight. By purchasing a pair of sunglasses you could help a person in need of prescription glasses, sight-saving surgery, or medical treatment. TOMS sunglasses range from $98 to $169. Here is a pair that I am putting on my Wish list.

TOMS Marco Smoke Crystal/Cadet Blue Sunglasses $98

If sunglasses are your choice for accessories, then try on a pair of TOMS. Your purchase will be helping a worthy cause.

Until next time...
